What is this blog for?
Hi there! My name is Bonnie and I like to watch movies. Old ones, new ones, foreign ones, silent ones, whatever. I especially like coming back to films, tv, or other media I haven’t engaged with in a long time and seeing if I relate to it differently. I often do because, as my tagline says, the movies stay the same, but I am always changing. It’s fascinating to me how we can feel so differently about a thing depending on where we are in our lives. A movie that was funny when we were kids might simply be annoying now. We might return to some “family friendly” film only to finally catch all the sly sexual innuedo we missed as children. Perhaps we are a little more “woke” today than yesterday and we suddenly notice all the olique “gay coding” in old movies that were prohibited from acknowledging such things openly. Maybe that classic move we all love is actually really racist, now that we think about it.
This is what rolls through my brain, so I decided to shove my thoughts out into the open and put them on the internet. They’re too crowded and they clatter too loudly otherwise. This film blog is shamelessly subjective, introspective, and generally unconcerned with issuing the typical film criticism. I don’t want to tell you if a movie is bad or good or if you should watch it. I just want to tell you how it has affected me and perhaps inspire you to take a second look at your own old favorites. Do you love them the same? Do they still hold up? Let’s find out together.
